Climate Bond Initiative (CBI) is a non-governmental association that has become a leader in the green bond sector. CBI is a member of the European Commission’s High-Level Expert Group (HLEG) on Sustainable Finance, convened to “help develop an overarching and comprehensive EU strategy on sustainable finance to integrate sustainability in EU financial policy”. CBI thanks to its standard (Climate Bond Standards), taxonomy (Climate Bonds Taxonomy) and certification (Climate Bonds Certification) is committed to improving transparency and integrity and supporting the growth of these new financial instruments in the market.

As a partner CBI, Carbonsink supports the dissemination of the Climate Bonds in the Italian market, as financial instruments useful for the mitigation of climate change and concrete opportunities of the private sector to show a concrete environmental commitment and an effective Climate Action.
As a scientific consultant, Carbonsink is responsible for guiding and supporting companies interested in Climate Bond, through a technical assessment of the "assets" (Technical Assessment) to verify if the necessary requisites exist for the creation of a Climate Bond that complies with the CBI guidelines.
The role of Carbonsink continues even once the bond has been issued on the market through the annual monitoring report, to verify how the capital has been used by the issuer and verify the impact in terms of emissions. Carbonsink reinforces the contribution of each individual investment compared to the Paris agreement, which proposes to maintain the increase in the average global temperature well below 2° C compared to pre-industrial levels.
Sector criteria assessment: Carbonsink will make a technical review of assets and facilities owned by the potential issuers based on the standards designed by the Climate Bonds Institute.
