Carbonsink at the Italian Business & SDGs Annual Forum of the Global Compact Network Italy
Carbonsink is proud to take part in the fourth edition of the Italian Business and SDGs Annual Forum, the annual event promoted by the Global Compact Network Italy (GCNI), aimed primarily at Italian companies and organizations participating in the United Nations Global Compact.
At the SDG Forum 2019 we will talk about innovation in support of sustainability, starting from the awareness that the ambitious goals of the United Nations Agenda 2030 cannot be achieved without a truly new, courageous and far-sighted approach by all the actors involved.
Andrea Maggiani, Carbonsink Managing Director, will take part in the session "How to integrate SDGs into business through innovation - The challenges of the 2030 Agenda", which has the main objective of presenting the focuses connected to the "2030 Agenda and Innovation" subject of the work on the second day of the Forum. Carbonsink will intervene in reference to the "Innovation and Resilience" focus, in particular on "Adaptation and mitigation, through new solutions, to the risks connected to climate change by reducing the vulnerability of the private sector and of the communities".
Carbonsink has been part of the network since 2019, created to contribute to the development of the United Nations Global Compact in Italy, an initiative to promote the culture of corporate citizenship promoted and managed on a global scale by the United Nations. Carbonsink also entered among the Founding Members, that is among the companies that become part of the GCNI, committing themselves to contribute to the fulfillment of its aims not only financially supporting the organization but also actively participating in the institutional life and the implementation of the planned initiatives .
Thanks to Carbonsink support, for the 2019 edition of the SDG Forum, the GCNI has decided to introduce an important novelty: the CO2 emissions related to the travel of all participants in the event will be offset. Carbonsink once calculated the total emissions relating to the speakers' transports (in Kg of CO2 eq.), These emissions are neutralized through the use of certified carbon credits. These credits will be deleted from the public register in the name and on behalf of the participants of the Forum.
The event will be hosted by the Hera Group, with the support of Assicurazioni Generali, illycaffè and Leonardo and with the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), the Municipality of Trieste and Confindustria Venezia Giulia.
